2012 Two Week Golf Camp for 16 & 17 Year Olds

BCC is pleased to offer a new extension of our junior golf program, a two week playing camp for experienced high school aged students ages 16 and 17, or other ages if the student is experienced and capable of playing nine holes of golf unsupervised.

This camp is currently being scheduled for the weeks of July 16th through 20th, 2012, and July 23 through 27th 2012.

Cost: $150 per student, $100 for BCC members. Payment is required ASAP to reserve your spot. For more information or to sign up, please contact the Batavia Country Club (585) 343-7600 ext 10.

If you have a younger golfer that you feel qualifies for this camp, please contact Mr. Moynihan at (585) 993 0392 or email him at at
tomgpro@gmail.com

This is a two week camp that will include a structured 30 minute group lesson Monday through Thursday, followed by 9 holes of golf (walking), and an 18 hole tournament divided into two 9 hole segments, one segment each Friday on BCC's front nine or back nine. The lessons will take more of an adult approach vs. the adolescent approach that is presented in junior golf camp. It will be fun, it will be work, and the student will learn about the golf swing.

Here's the day to day schedule, (lessons are subject to change):

  • Week 1, July 16 - July 20, 2012
    • Monday July 16, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Ball Striking", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Tuesday July 17, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Chipping", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Wednesday July 18, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Putting", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Thursday July 19, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Full Swing", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Friday, July 20, 2012 - First half of 18 hole tournament Front Nine white tees, 6:45 am tee times

  • Week 2, July 23 - July 27, 2012
    • Monday July 23, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Driver Swing", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Tuesday July 24, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Wedge Swing", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Wednesday July 25, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Scoring Swings", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Thursday July 25, 2012 - 7am Lesson "Putting and Chipping Review", followed by 9 holes walking
    • Friday July 27, 2012 - Second half of 18 hole tournament Back Nine white tees, 6:45 am tee times

Lessons will start at promptly 7 am Monday through Thursday, followed by 9 holes walking with tee times starting at exactly 7:50 am, so there won't be any dead time. Players will be grouped in foursomes, threesomes, or twosomes, depending on the number of participants. Players should be done by about 9:45 am to 10 am. Parents will have a better handle on the end time after the first day of play.

In the event of a rainout, participants will receive a 9 hole pass in lieu of that days play. Players that have attended junior golf camp know that we play in the rain, but not if there's lightning.

There will be an 18 hole tournament from the white tees, split up between the two Fridays, and USGA Rules of Golf will apply strictly to this tournament. A brief awards ceremony will follow the conclusion of the 18 hole tournament, where each attendee will receive an 18 hole greens fee pass, and the tournament medalist will receive an award. The the top four finishers will also receive an automatic invitation to the free Junior Golf Camp Invitational Tournament on August 20th, 2012.

Parents please note, that the players will be playing nine holes with their group, on their own, without any supervision. We anticipate that 16 and 17 year old students are mature enough to handle this arrangement, and if any parent has an older junior golf camp participant that would be mature enough and good enough to participate, they can check with Mr. Moynihan for age exceptions, and his decision on participation will be final.

Mr. Moynihan's contact information: cell/text (585) 993 0392, email: tomgpro@gmail.com

Class size is limited, first come first served. Tom Moynihan will conduct the class, his credentials are: , Batavia Country Club Head Teaching Professional, USGTF Class "A" Teaching Professional, and Genesee Community College Head Golf Coach.

Cost: $150 per student, $100 for BCC members. Payment is required ASAP to reserve your spot. For more information or to sign up, please contact the Batavia Country Club (585) 343-7600 ext 10.

Students between the ages of 10 and 15 may participate in their own dedicated week or weeks as the case may be. For this age group, we work in more course exposure to prepare for the Friday Tournament.

Students are expected to have their own clubs. A very limited number of junior clubs are available for use through Mr. Moynihan, so if a student does not have clubs please let BCC or Mr. Moynihan know well ahead of time and we'll try to work something out based on availability.

Golf camp will cover: putting, chipping, pitching and the full swing, rules, and golf etiquette. The format for each class will be discussion, drills, use of training aids, skills practice, and a competition at the end of each class for a prize. There is also a tournament on Friday morning and a brief informal awards ceremony afterwards for contest winners for the week. In the event of rain, we'll still conduct the lesson in the pavilion. A soft drink is provided for the daily break, students should provide their own snacks.
